Rwanda bans used underwear imports
In an article published today in The New Times: “The Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) has imposed a ban on the importation and selling of secondhand nightwear and undergarments for health reasons, the importation of substandard products and using country as dumping ground as the reasons.” via Good intentions are not enough

Remember when all of a sudden Saturday morning cartoons went from being awesome to boring in like 1996? The government made that happen. (The Weird Al Show was, sadly, victim to either being too educational or not educational enough.)

Grokion Review
I just beat Grokion for iOS. It’s a Metroid clone. It looks incredible, the sound is great, but I would not recommend it: It’s really short. It’s supposed to be “episodic” but I don’t like the trend of developers releasing partially-completed games. It’s short, so there aren’t really any weapon/suit upgrades like in Metroid. Some of the levels...

Regarding iOS games
I would like it if the App Store had labels to indicate some things about games. Having or not having one of these labels isn’t necessarily good or bad, but they’re important to know. Does it use multitouch in a clever way? I want to play games on my iPod Touch that I can’t play on a computer or a console. Flight Control, Spider, and Trainyard are good examples of this: these...

Evan on WikiLeaks not being as heroic as some people think: It has now been almost two months since the biggest leak of classified information belonging to the US government ever, yet the world I know has not changed much at all. Perhaps, more realistically, the “Cablegate” scandal will be immortalized with a mediocre testosterone-injected, PG13-rated action thriller. I can see the...

Fully Validated Kanye West Retires To Quiet Farm... →
Though known for his outsized ego and grandstanding lyrics, West said “all of that is over now,” telling reporters outside his remote two-bedroom farmhouse that after years of nonstop public attention, he was now completely secure in his sense of self and required no further affirmation.

Defendant with no language proves difficult to... →
As Gonzalez has next to no language skills, his case has baffled Montgomery County courts since his arrest on drug trafficking charges late last year. While courts have come a long way in providing access to interpreters in a host of exotic languages, no one is sure how to translate for a man who knows no language at all.

helplesscase has thoughts on response to Palin’s crosshairs map, and the general condemnations of “violent language”. I’d previously posted on this. In chatting about this, I think helplesscase has a couple of really good points: 1 it’s not clear that Loughner was influenced by Palin’s map 2 people saying we should “dial down” political discourse...

Marmaduke has died. Marmaduke’s owner-man has decided to pretend Marmaduke is still alive, dressing him up in sunglasses and taking him on rockin’ adventures with bikini babes. Even if today’s comic really was an intentional Weekend at Bernie’s reference, it would still be decades timelier than a lot of Marmadukes. I love love Joe Mathlete Explains Marmaduke

It’s absolutely right to point out Sarah Palin’s PAC distributing a US map with crosshairs on House Representatives who favored the health care reform bill, included Rep Gabrielle Giffords.
